Questions Asked on the 4th of July
“Thank You” to those of you who visited our booth at the 4th of July celebration and took the time to talk with Envision Schools and the High School Foundation. We were pleased to hear so many express an interest and concern about the proposed Community Education Center and Charter Public High School. Here are examples of some of the questions:
Question: What is the Community Education Center? How does it fit together with the Charter Public High School?
Answer: The “Ed Center” is a building. During the day, Envision Schools will use it for an Arts and Technology High School. In the evenings, the facility will be used for a variety of educational programs such as adult classes, community college and university courses, and other educational offerings which will benefit the entire community.
Question: What’s the status of the “Ed Center and High School?”
Answer: We’re doing everything within our power to build a Community Education Center and establish a Charter Public High School. We just submitted the revised Business Plan requested by the City. The City Council will review this and accept it, reject it, or ask for more information.
Question: Will the Ed Center definitely be built?
Answer: Its fate depends largely on decisions made by our City Council and possibly by local voters, decisions that are outside the control of the Foundation.
Question: What happens if the Council and local voters don’t support it?
Answer: Our community will lose this last opportunity to build an Ed Center and establish a Charter Public High School.
Question: How can I help ensure that they get built?
Answer: Contact City Council members and tell them that your want an Ed Center and High School. (See www.fostercity.org/city_hall/council/ for their contact information) They welcome public discussion and debate that is reasoned and informed. They have recently asked for public feedback on the plans for the civic center development on the 15-acre site Keep up with our progress.
